Los Angeles Yacht Club Opening Day Ceremonies

Opening day represents the day the club is ready to start the sailing season. So what better way to start than with a Coast Guard inspection on Friday, fun racing on Saturday (including PHRF and cruisers), and then a party with your friends on Sunday. Does life get any better?


  • Club Open at 1000
  • Dinner at the LAYC Angels Gate Bistro


  • Club Open at 1000
  • The Opening Day Race, first warning is at 1255
  • Trophy presentation as soon as possible after race, around 1700
  • Food will be served after trophy presentation


  • Registration at 0900
  • Ceremony at 1030
  • Light lunch at 1130
  • Fleet open for inspection, hors d’oeuvres and libation at 1300. If the weather does not cooperate, the Hors d’oeuvres will be judged in the club house.
  • Awards for best hors d’oeuvres at 1500 by the flagpole.
  • Clubhouse will be open until 1600 with food available.
